ABOUT KI PITCHING

KI PITCHING offers a wide variety of sports training. We have individuals who have a long history of sports training, coaching, and performing the sport themselves. We specialize in softball training, football skill training, and all-around fitness training. We offer 1:1 private lesson as well as group/team lessons & clinics for a variety of different age groups. With softball pitching, our main goal is to educate young athletes on the proper mechanics and fundamentals necessary to throw with maximum power and precision. A lot goes into being a pitcher and the small things such as footwork & mechanics are very important to being successful on the mound. We currently have one pitching instructor, Katie Ives (owner and head coach). This summer, we plan to add Kaylee Heritage (current Varsity pitcher for Queensbury) to our coaching staff as a pitching instructor. When choosing candidates to be pitching instructors through KI PITCHING, we are extremely selective as we want to make sure that instructors teach the same style that we implement. That is why Kaylee Heritage will be giving lessons this summer, as she has been training through Coach Katie's foundational training for going on 2 years. Each child is different and learns in different ways as well as different speeds and our coaches really do a great job adjusting to the different ages and skill levels that come thru our programs.

As for pitching, traditional pitching lessons do not seem to yield high-level results. Selling an hour of their time (sometimes even 30 minutes, which barely gets you warmed up) often results in a few pieces of advice and some quick-fix drills. This is what we call the band-aid approach, a transactional method. We are looking for transformational results. In traditional lessons, the player may leave slightly improved, but how long does that last? One lesson will not result in long-term improvement. To truly impact a pitcher's foundation and performance, you need long-term training and programming that varies in intensity and repetition based on the season. Periodization in training allows the pitcher to peak at the right time while reducing the risk of injury and burnout.
