Weather & Travel Safety Policy & Cancellation Form


At Tier One Athletics, the safety of athletes, families, and coaches is always the top priority. Due to the nature of travel—often involving evening hours, back roads, and varying winter conditions—the following policy is in place to ensure responsible decision-making during inclement weather.

 

Weather-Related Cancellations & Rescheduling

Lessons may be rescheduled or postponed due to:

  • Snow, sleet, freezing rain, or icy road conditions
  • Poor visibility
  • Extreme cold that increases the risk of black ice
  • Unsafe travel conditions, especially during evening hours or on back roads


The decision to cancel or reschedule is made based on road safety and travel conditions, not solely on whether precipitation is actively falling.


Timing of Decisions

  • Weather-related decisions may be made day-of, particularly when conditions are expected to worsen in the evening.
  • Every effort will be made to notify families as early as possible, but safety decisions may occur closer to lesson time if conditions change.

 

 

Credits & Makeups

  • If Tier One Athletics cancels a lesson due to weather or travel safety concerns, the lesson will be credited or rescheduled.
  • Credits do not expire and can be applied to future sessions.
  • Refunds are not issued for weather-related cancellations unless otherwise stated.


 

No Pressure Policy

For safety reasons, lessons will not proceed if travel conditions are deemed unsafe, even if:

 

  • Families are willing to travel
  • Conditions vary by location
  • Roads near the facility appear clear


This policy ensures consistent decision-making and avoids unnecessary risk.

 

Parent-Initiated Cancellations

If a family feels uncomfortable traveling due to weather, they are encouraged to communicate as early as possible. These situations will be handled with understanding and flexibility whenever possible.

 

Why This Policy Exists

Winter weather in our area can be unpredictable, and conditions can vary significantly between towns. This policy allows Tier One Athletics to prioritize safety, maintain professionalism, and ensure high-quality instruction without unnecessary risk.
