Important Things to Know Prior To Booking Lessons

Dedication and Effort Required

At KI Pitching, we believe that success in pitching requires dedication outside of lessons and a commitment to putting in the effort needed to succeed. We are selective, seeking not just any aspiring pitcher, but those who are committed to investing what it takes to ascend to the next level and attain their personal goals previously set.

Correct mechanics required to establish a solid foundation.

Our coaches are committed to instructing young athletes in the essential mechanics, fundamentals, and techniques for maximizing power in fastpitch pitching for lasting improvement. We compare ourselves to school teachers, equipped with all the tools, knowledge, and practices necessary for advancement. However, if students do not exert the required effort at home, we unfortunetly must revisit the recommended drills at the following lesson, and they must also complete a series of strength and conditioning exercises. We ensure the workload is manageable, yet we challenge them with the expectation that each student will give 110%, regardless of the demands asked of them.

A Variety of Training Options Are Available.

We provide a range of training options including one-on-one private lessons, group or team sessions, clinics, strength and flexibility programs, speed and agility programs, and virtual lessons, all designed to meet the unique requirements of each pitcher, guaranteeing a personalized and impactful training experience.

Essential Equipment and Items Required for Lessons.

  • At KI PITCHING, we advocate for students to simulate game situations as closely as possible. We require pitchers to bring their facemasks to each lesson, ensuring that during full pitching sessions, they are prepared to experience a live game environment. This approach ensures that come game time, students are comfortable and not distracted by an irritating facemask. We appreciate your cooperation!
  • Hair up and out of your face.
  • Cleats when training outdoors
  • Sneakers when training indoors (that are not worn in the dirt and mud outside).
  • Students are encouraged to bring a notebook or journal to each lesson. This way, if an instructor explains something in a manner that resonates with you and leads to a positive change, you can jot it down for future reference during a game. Additionally, use this notebook or journal to record any drills that aid in making adjustments or solidifying a particular skill. Journals are invaluable tools for pitchers. We also offer journals for sale should you wish to buy one.
  • Pitcher's must wear a glove at all times unless stated otherwise.
  • Pitchers are advised to bring any pitching tools they might have at home. This is mainly because our instructors want to ensure that your child uses the tools with the correct form while training at home.
  • Bringing a KI PITCHING binder, if you have ordered one, will be extremely beneficial for students to help remember the lessons and apply the techniques at home. It is quite challenging to retain everything as an adult, let alone a young child.

Below explains the At Home Training:

This training is NOT a suggestion, this training is an expectation when training through KI PITCHING.

KI Pitching is committed to maintaining communication with our clients beyond the lessons. Each lesson a student attends, they will receive training materials for home practice, including strength and flexibility exercises, foundational drills, and mental strength exercises if necessary. Our home training program is carefully designed, with significant time, energy, and thought invested into each one. No two home training plans are the same; they are customized for each individual child. These home trainings are not just suggestions; at KI PITCHING, completing the home trainings is expected. Students must complete the training four times per week, following the specific repetitions outlined on the training sheet given at the end of each lesson. After completing their first training, students should document the drill's name, the completion date, the total number of reps performed, and crucially, how many of the (for example) 20 reps were flawless. They are allowed only (in this case) 20 reps. There are no do-overs. Everything I do as a pitching instructor has a purpose, and I am happy to address any questions. However, this aspect of our training is absolutely crucial. My pitchers who diligently follow the trainings make rapid progress. Those who do not fully engage in the trainings, or only partially, tend not to see much improvement, which unfortunately leads to repetition of the previous week's lesson. This part of my instruction is the most critical. Before progressing, students must be able to perform 15-20 clean and sharp reps of each drill. The trainings are tailored based on the student's recent progress in the areas being targeted. At times, students may continue with the same home training plan for a month, depending on their progress. This requirement is put in place so that your investment into your child's pitching career leads to results. I do what I do because I LOVE softball, kids, and teaching. Softball has been a part of my life for 30 years now, I know what it takes, I know what effort looks like, I know what going through the motions looks like. I know when a student has done their training, and when they haven't. I take pride in my expertise and the ability to mentor these athletes, yet I typically find it unrewarding to invest time and energy in a student who shows little interest in learning. If you have any questions regarding our expectations when it comes to "at home training" please reach out and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
